How our waiting room keeps big on-sales fair
Why arriving early gives no advantage, how places are given out, and what happens when it’s your turn.

When thousands of people want the same tickets at the same moment, the fairest thing is not “fastest click wins”. That rewards bots, good Wi-Fi and refreshing, not fans. So for high-demand on-sales, organisers can put a waiting room in front of their checkout.
Arrive any time in the hour before
Everyone who arrives in the hour before tickets go on sale waits on the same page. When sales open, each of them is given a random place in the queue. Arriving 59 minutes early is no better than arriving one minute early, and refreshing doesn’t help.
People who arrive after opening join the back of the queue in the order they arrive.
Let in at a steady rate
The organiser sets how many people are let through per minute, so the checkout never gets overwhelmed and everyone who reaches it has a smooth time. They can change the rate, pause, resume or let everyone in live from the backoffice.
When it’s your turn
When you reach the front you have 10 minutes to choose your tickets. Keep the page open while you wait.
A few tips
- Sign in before the on-sale so checkout is quicker.
- Use one tab and one device; extra tabs don’t give you extra places.
- Check the event page for the per-order ticket limit so you know what to pick.
No prize for refreshing, just a fair shot for everyone who turns up.
